Meta’s AI Chief LeCun Spins Off €3B Superintelligence Venture
Meta Platforms Inc. shares edged higher as Yann LeCun, the Turing Award-winning physicist known as an AI godfather, announced plans to depart the company by end-2025 to launch Advanced Machine Intelligence Labs. The startup is seeking €500 million in funding at a €3 billion valuation, with commercial partnership rights granted to Meta.
The venture will pioneer "world models"—AI systems trained through visual learning rather than brute-force data ingestion. This approach could redefine machine intelligence paradigms while sidestepping the computational arms race plaguing large language models.
Bank of America maintains its $810 price target on Meta stock, noting upcoming catalysts including a new LLM launch in 2026. The stock’s 11% year-to-date gain trails the Nasdaq’s 18% rise, leaving room for AI-driven upside.
